Giving up for the day, I moved the disc to its final location and when I checked the app, it said "Your disc is working well. If I get the max of 3 Complete wifi discs then this effectively frees up another disc for locating around the house so should give me better coverage.

BT Complete Wi-Fi will only work with the BT Smart Hub 2, you cannot mix disc models either, ie run a BT Whole Home Wifi Disc(White) with this.

The Premium Whole Home Wi-Fi uses Wi-Fi 6 in the background for the discs to communicate with each other, but your individual devices will still use Wi-Fi 5 technology. Finally, I tried disc plus 3, this one set up correctly with no issues, which leaves me rather baffled. They’re perfect for bigger families or households with multiple users streaming content or gaming at the same time.
