About this deal

The large heat sink in the metal housing is designed to optimise the heat dissipation of CPU and RAM and minimise throttling. I’ve talked about the N2+ before a bit, in the Battle of the Boards 2023 post, but they’ve recently started taking over as “desktops in my office. Little architecture that integrates a quad-core ARM Cortex A73 CPU cluster and a dual-core Cortex A53 cluster with a new generation Mali G52 GPU. Today I’m going to review the ODROID N2+ and examine the available image choices, benchmark the performance of the board, take a look at the capabilities and give some general recommendations about who would best benefit from using a board like this.

The “Petitboot” software provides a user friendly interface and allows users to select a boot media. The ARMv8 architecture supports hardware accelerated crypto extensions for building a secure system. You’ll want to avoid installing a desktop environment quite yet - it doesn’t quite work right with the netinstaller for some reason. LITTLE architecture which integrates a quad-core ARM Cortex-A73 CPU cluster and a dual core Cortex-A53 cluster with a new generation Mali-G52 GPU.running smoothly on my Odroid C4 with 4K movies as well as old gen emulators with roms - NES and SNES. and did not experience any problems with them, resulting in a 33% clock frequency improvement over the original N2. ODROID-N2 has an on-board RTC component, NXP PCF8563, interfaced to the I2C bus and can use a backup battery as an alternative power source while the main power source is absent.

Yes, you’re about to netboot an installer across the internet - the future, on occasion, does turn out some pretty neat tricks! This resolves some weird video issues on one of my monitors that doesn’t quite get along with the N2+ until the full GUI is up. For a variety of reasons, I’ve been trying to make the random ARM SBCs function as computers, and for my needs, the ODroid N2+ is a better system than the Raspberry Pi.Odroid UK is proud to be the official distributor of Odroid single board computers in the UK and Europe. CoreELEC is a new generation media center OS built for increased functionality with world class output picture quality.

The ODROID N2+ is a great board with a built-in Petitboot bootloader capable of booting from SSDs and other types of devices. This board is powerful enough that it will hold you back to be using a SD card for storage with such a powerful CPU/GPU.

This is due to it’s popularity and the fact that people know in the game emulation community that this is a good board. The Odroid N2+ CoreELEC (4GB) version is an Odroid N2+ bundle which has a pre-installed version of the CoreELEC OS, allowing for a full multimedia playback system straight out of the box. As far as I can tell the ‘ne’ devolpment is still in the air for these, bit i can’t really imagine support ending completely. This is nice for the real time clock (RTC) as even if the board loses power it will retain certain memory/settings that you would normally expect to be lost on a board like this.
