About this deal

All of the ropes and leather straps on the model, including the grip on the weapon and shield, were tidied up with Wraithbone, before getting a coat of Gore-Grunta Fur. Emma: It’s so yellow! Bad Moon Yellow covers really well all over for a clean, sharp yellow that’s super bright. It’s great on armour panels for Bad Moons – of course – and Ironjawz! When it comes to Warhammer, you’ll most often find tentacles on models related to Nurgle, whether in Age of Sigmar or Warhammer 40,000, though Tyranids frequently sport them as well.

Lizzie: Easily one of the most vibrant of the green tones, this really draws attention to a miniature. I’ve used this to create some bright warp flame, and Nighthaunt magic. Lizzie: Like many, painting yellow has always been a challenge for me. Not any more! Imperial Fist, alongside Ironjawz Yellow and Bad Moon Yellow, provides the perfect solution to your yellow painting needs.

Step 2: Pink Basecoat

Lizzie: What a name! Perfect on Daemonettes and other Daemons of Slaanesh – you can apply this over a light skin tone to create gaunt and sunken flesh. It’s also fun to use over metallics to create a really unique tone. Emma: Such a rich, vibrant teal colour! It’s perfect for Seraphon and many other models – I have even thinned it down to make a spooky verdigris for Grand Alliance Death models. Aeldari Emerald is a colour unlike any in the current Contrast range, giving you a brand new choice for a whole range of effects. A vivid alternative to Aethermatic Blue, this acts as a partner to Pylar Glacier, giving you even more choices in the blue range of the spectrum. Final steps. I painted the manhole and grate with Typhus Corrosion, then drybrushed it with Ryza Rust to give it an old rusted metal look and a gritty texture. Next comes the technical paints. I painted a few globs of Nurgle’s Rot on the cover, and a generous dollop under the tip of the tentacle and in the crook where it’s bending over itself. This gives it a wet, green texture but I want to get the rest of the model. I don’t want to wash out the green completely so the rest of the model gets covered in ‘Ardcoat.

Follow my Green Flames Rev iii for the recipe for the flames. Always do last as you can apply some minor OSL. Teal and turquoise are crucial when painting lizards, magic effects, and Space Marines like the Alpha Legion – and Kroxigor Scales fits alongside Leviadon Blue and Akhelian Green to give you even more choice. Need a brown that’s got the tan punch of Snakebite Leather but is stronger like Cygor Brown? Garaghak’s Sewer is your weapon of choice. Apothecary White and Gryph-charger Grey give you two blue-hued ways to shade White, but Dreadful Visage is a pale grey shade with a hint of lilac. Emma: This paint has a lovely jade-like tone, which is really intense and vivid. I love using it over Stormhost Silver on gemstones or thinned down for a different take on crystal blades than the usual blue.

The Cloth

You’ll notice I went and painted all the skin before touching the tentacles. This wasn’t by accident. Tentacles are often an accent that you want to pop and stand out drastically from the rest of your scheme, as such getting an idea of what the other colors that will be present on the model gives you an idea of what will pop next to it. In this situation, since I’m painting with yellowish bone armor and reddish hues in the skin, I wanted something closer to purple and blue. Green would probably have worked here too, but I wanted to accent the skin with that color later. Imperial Fist takes up the gauntlet thrown down by Nazdreg Yellow and Iyanden Yellow, pushing the pigment further and making yellow even more of a breeze to paint. The great thing about this scheme is that if I need to paint a lot of models fast, as you often do with Tyranids, then they look great and ‘Battle Ready’ at just the Contrast paint stage and I can add the highlights later. Emma: I’ve been painting for many years, and Contrast is one of the most fun and versatile paint ranges I’ve worked with. They are easy and fun to use, making armies faster than ever to paint. Blue Malayan Coral Snake : The effect on the body was achieved by using thinned Frostheart Contrast with a White Scar drybrush, wet blending with Blood Angels Red Contrast for the head and tail. Scales are Leviadon Blue with a Blue Horror drybrush.

Contrast blues are some of the most saturated paints in the range, and Pylar Glacier exists to slot in between Aethermatic Blue and Talassar Blue . Magos Purple and Shyish Purple were lighter Contrast paints, perfect for tinting and glazing . Out of the pot Luxion Purple provides a rich and luxurious layer. Lizzie: A regal and rich blue, with deep tones that seep into the recesses. This is perfect for making those Stormcast Eternals look fit to serve Sigmar. T’au Empire – The T’au Empire is a highly advanced and technologically advanced army that utilizes sleek and streamlined designs for their weaponry and vehicles. Volupus Pink can be used to add a touch of elegance to the army’s predominantly blue and white color scheme, serving as an accent color on their battlesuits and vehicles. The pink can be used to create interesting contrasts with the blue, making the T’au forces more visually interesting. Tyranids are a purely organic faction, which means that even within a fixed colour scheme there’s room for individual variation and mutation. This is great news if, like me, you have trouble figuring out the right recipe for the colour you want – you can experiment on different models and units until you’re happy, and the results won’t look odd at all!Hello there guys, ghouls, and, thampires. Today I’m gonna walk through my method for speed painting tentacles. Its relatively simple and nothing crazy but the results will make any cultist of Nurgle green with envy (or gangrene, not really sure). So lets go ahead and get started!

Genestealer Purple: Purple is a complementary color to pink, which means they pair well together. Genestealer Purple is a dark, rich purple that can be used as a shadow or to create a gradient effect with Volupus Pink. There’s a lot of green in Warhammer, from Salamanders and Nurgle Daemons, to Orks and orruks! Gutrippa Flesh is here to help, slotting in between Militarum Green and Plaguebearer Flesh . I have had a great deal of fun experimenting with using various real-world colour schemes that can be found in nature for my Tyranids. I’ve so far attempted schemes based on the following: Lizzie: A bold and brash paint with subtle darker tones, this is really versatile. Of course, it’s ideal for those Aeldari Striking Scorpions, but it’s brilliant for glazing onto eye lenses and gemstones to create glowing effects.

Wood and Straps

These were then shaded with Reikland Fleshshade. You want to make sure you’re using the new formula from GW to get the same effect and result as mine. When gluing, you might want to use super glue, as it sets much faster than plastic glue. Here is some advice on using superglue to achieve the best results. Put the tree sideways, attach a single branch, and let the glue set and cure completely. Then, turn the tree by 90 degrees, and attach the next branch. Work your way from top to bottom and most importantly, be patient and let the glue of each branch dry completely before you move on. I learned this the hard way, as half of my branches fell off as the glue hadn’t set yet… First I applied a blue and purple mix of deep toned translucent paints to the tentacle. Specifically I used Army Painter’s Beowulf Blue and Swarm Purple Speedpaints mixed at about 50:50. This was a bit brighter than I would like so I continued glazing, that said that could be a perfectly acceptable tentacle in the right context so feel free to stop there.
