About this deal

Like many, I thought that Terry Hayes’s first novel, “I Am Pilgrim” was among the best thrillers I had read for long time. I joined those anticipating keenly his follow-up. “The Year of There was plenty with which to find fault – nobody would say that Hayes, best known previously as a screenwriter on Mad Max films in the 1980s, is a master of style or characterisation – but there was something elemental about the book, a rare sense that the outcome of its contests of brain and brawn really mattered. Transworld has unveiled Terry Hayes’ second novel, The Year of the Locust, scheduled for publication on 9th November 2023. The protagonist, Kane is what you call an elite operator for the CIA, a denied access area spy and when a mission needs to be completed in some of the most dangerous places in the world: Iran, Pakistan, Russia, China, North Korea etc. they don't send in the Special Activities Division - they send Kane instead.

Terry Hayes (born 8 October 1951) is an English-born Australian screenwriter, producer and author best known for his work with the Kennedy Miller film production house and his debut novel I Am Pilgrim.Ben Coes, New York Times bestselling author of international espionage thrillers featuring Dewey Andreas Ongoing Covid restrictions, reduced air and freight capacity, high volumes and winter weather conditions are all impacting transportation and local delivery across the globe. Given that a single locust can consume a lettuce overnight, the impact of a whole swarm of them on crops – and on the farmers and communities dependent on those crops – can be devastating.

Whereas A Little Life closely follows a group of four friends in New York City over the course of several decades, plunging in and out of the protagonist’s traumatic past, Yanagihara’s next novel, To Paradise, which will be published on 11 January, spans three centuries and three ‘different versions of the American experiment’. Despite this more expansive setting, it sounds likely to contain Yanagihara’s trademark anguish, with mentions of fragile characters, the AIDS epidemic and totalitarian rule.We all fell in love with Terry Hayes when he took the spy thriller world by storm in 2014. I Am Pilgrim is still today nine years later is considered by many to be the finest book written for a thriller fan. In 2001, Hayes was nominated for the Bram Stoker Award for Best Screenplay for his work on From Hell. [7] The hotly anticipated second novel from Terry Hayes, author of the internationally bestselling I am Pilgrim With arresting eyes and a firm line to his jaw, he was probably more imposing than handsome, but one thing was certain: he was the best-dressed man I had ever met. No matter the hour, no matter how fraught the situation, you would find him early in the morning in his office, or late at night in the operations centre, wearing a hand-made Brioni suit, a silk tie and a Charvet shirt. Even his collection of cufflinks was a wonder to behold.
