This is a truly classic single malt Scotch, made from malted barley which is first cold-smoked and then dried over a peat fire. I have drunk more Laphroaig 10 over the past forty years than all the other whiskies added together. I met Laphroaig at a free tasting many years ago and it immediately became my favourite affordable whisky. This single malt matures in charred ex-Bourbon barrels for a full decade before being bottled at its natural cask strength, preserving its powerful and distinctive flavors. On the nose there are clouds of smoke with an iodine infused sea spray topped with a sprig of seaweed.
