Snape, Ian (2003), Chess Endings Made Simple: How to Approach the Endgame with Confidence, Gambit Publications, ISBN 1-901983-97-8

He leans toward me over the table, dark eyes earnest, stars traveling on his skin. 'Do you know how incredible you are?'" However, with two rooks, you will need to “waste a move” or “mark time” as Yasser Serawan discusses in his endgame books. His full lips tremble for the barest second. “Are you real?” The air between us swells, overflows. “Sometimes I’m scared that I imagined you. Sometimes I think you’re only in my head.” If you come up with better name suggestions, please share them in our forum – the link you’ll find at the end of the article.

why not add in more than science? sprinkle some computor coders, they deserve a love story because coding is hard, add some teachnology, people discovering ai, mathematics is always fun (said no one but me ever) that would always be so fun to look at. Chess For Kids: Learn To Play Chess In A Fun And Simple Way by Sam Lemons and Learning Through Activities. Felix feels like he’s permanently in trouble at school. Everyone keeps telling him to try harder, but it’s just not that simple. His mind is constantly changing direction, making it impossible to concentrate, and no-one gets how frustrating it is. This is an original, intelligent, perceptive and though-provoking series of books – and whilst squarely aimed at the Young Adult market, it clearly transcends the restrictive boundaries of that genre.

The romance was cute and adorable. It was young love and even swoon-worthy but there wasn't much rivalry between Mallory and Nolan like the way Ali promoted it. There were some cute amd funny moments which I absolutely adored but I did not like the way Mallory treated him sometimes. The way Nolan cared for her and made sure she got the fellowship in chess was just so precious. He wanted to play chess with her and she denied him every single time and I understand her reasons but Nolan did everything he could to earn her trust. Nolan deserves so much better. Also I hated how he was more like a side character in this book than the "actual" side characters which is the worst that could happen to a mmc. Fine 1979, p.4, "Two bishops of the same color cannot administer mate; a mating position is not even conceivable. The same holds true of nine (or more!) bishops all of one color."

There’s lots to consider. My feelings about chess, for one, which I cannot disentangle from my feelings for Dad. They are twisted, knotted together. There’s pain. Regret. Nostalgia. Guilt. Hate. Above all, there’s anger. So much anger inside me. Mountains of it, entire blasing landscapes without a single furyless corner in them.’ Mammoth Book of Chess by Graham Burgess is a giant book that’s great for intermediate players. The information is clearly explained and laid out while also being easy to digest. Books For Advanced Players (Above 1800) anyways here is my message to Ali Hazelwood on book ideas she could use while still staying in the relm of science.

This book seemed vaguely familiar when I read it? But if I have read it before, I'd completely forgotten everything that happened in it. Which says volumes about how thrilling a story it was... not particularly good, not horrible. just average. middling, if you will. but you know what — i enjoyed it. the only other book i’ve read by ali hazelwood is the love hypothesis, which i liked but found especially forgettable. the characters were flat and didn’t have much personality, the ethics of the relationship were questionable, the smut was truly some of the worst i have ever read, etc. These facts are the only things that are mine and real. So I don’t mind so much that I’m leaving it all behind. There’s nothing here worth holding onto. nolan GOODNESS GRACIOUS! romance is ALIVE! he is so effortlessly down BAD for mallory. wants to study her. wants the world for her. wants her to be his 🫴🏽 this man would move mountains for his girl before she was even his girl. 🧎🏻‍♀️ Mallory gets an internship at a chess club and wants to decline, but it’s paid and she can’t pass up the money. Along with the tournament winnings etc. Things seem good, even though she’s keeping all this from her family (mom and two younger sisters) but then there is Nolan Sawyer.

Also, a lot of this book didn’t feel.. Original. It felt like it had been done before, like the third act break-up (misunderstanding ofc it was) and the not-really-rivals-to-lovers. I did like the chess aspect of this. I’ve never read any books about chess competitions or anything of the sort and it’s mind-blowing to learn things like people play chess for 7 HOURS STRAIGHT (I’ve literally never done anything for 7 hours except sleep), so that was cool. I know that Ali’s only ever written STEM-themed books, so I appreciate how she stepped out of the normal for her YA debut. A to Z Chess Tactics: Every Chess Move Explained written by George Huczek. As the title suggests, George grabs you by the hand and walks you through 26 tactical themes in Chess and explains every detail about each one. All the tactics are categorized by theme in their own respective chapters. And to top it off at the end of the lessons are 400 puzzles on the themes you just learned that increase in difficulty.

Okay so I'm quite confused with that ending; are Jude & Jasmine dead? Did she set the bomb off? I don't know. There's another book and the blurb for that book also confuses me (I highly recommend not reading the blurb for 'Doublecross'). Every time the public attention is focused on Ali Hazelwood I feel the need to protect her from the haters who haven't yet understood that yes, we know her books are all about the same man and woman in different fonts and no, we do not care.Mallory Greenleaf is done with chess. Every move counts nowadays; after the sport led to the destruction of her family four years earlier, Mallory's focus is on her mom, her sisters, and the dead-end job that keeps the lights on. That is, until she begrudgingly agrees to play in one last charity tournament and inadvertently wipes the board with notorious "Kingkiller" Nolan Sawyer: current world champion and reigning Bad Boy of chess. But soon Callie is caught in a trap she can't get out of - one which will have deadly consequences. Are you real?” The air between us swells, overflows. “Sometimes I’m scared that I imagined you. Sometimes I think you’re only in my head.” my heart revs up to a million. nearly beats out of my chest with everything that i’m feeling for him. i don't want to leave. i want to be with him. i want to sleep with him in this bed. i want to wake up to him pulling me into himself. i want to eat the overcooked pasta he makes and share his toothpaste and know...
