It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything. Using the cheese the little girl decides to collect mice (successfully) - and you can probably guess what comes next. We love cats, probably more than we love any other domesticated animal - so we had high hopes for Lorna Scobie's gorgeous looking "Collecting Cats".

I have to say I absolutely love cats, so when I discovered that Lorna Scobie had created a book all about cats how could I possibly resist? Lorna Scobie grew up in the depths of the English countryside, climbing trees and taking her rabbit for walks in the fields. Incredibly detailed and intricate illustrations mixed with an hilarious story make this book a joy to behold. Shi Hui is such a common name but the Shi Hui that we are speaking to is this ambitious Shi hui with 3 mediums (As linked below).

You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods. I also have to do impressions for all the mice, and cats, she points to each one, she likes the pictures, and thinks the cats are ‘playing’ with the mice.

I first came across Lorna Scobie as the illustrator of Smriti Prasadam-Halls’ Pairs board books and Nicola Davies’ The Variety of Life, so it’s great to see her first solo picture book. If you want a reference so you can know what sort of book this is, think a little of books illustrated by Jon Klassen. Moon and cheese, because the first cat left is related to cheese, and I know he's behind a painting of a moon I can't get to, so maybe this code will take me there. Your selection was perfect for our children and what really made the difference was your ability to engage with each child, discuss their interests and help them to choose a suitable book based on your extensive knowledge of the books you were selling. My son and daughter love picking out all the different animals on each page, with the brilliant detail of each unique (and often funny!It’s only a short little story/picture book with about a sentence on each page, so don’t expect it to be a long read. Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do.
