Often the oversized Pops seem to be done for the sake of it, whereas in this instance Ludo is perfect for the larger scale.The soundtrack boasts five original David Bowie songs that have long held a special place in the hearts of Bowie fans of a certain generation. The figure is a great representation of Ludo and is a great reminder how Funko’s real strength is when it comes to non-human characters. The box features the Labyrinth 30th anniversary logo and shows the other figures available in the range. There is a predatory sense to the rhythm that never lets up as fizzing bass pries every deep into the dead of night.

It’s really hard to see any Labyrinth fan not loving the Labyrinth Ludo Pop Vinyl figure, sure he may not be David Bowie and his bulging crotch but a big orange monster with a speech impediment is a damn fine runner up! The pair first met in Portland in 2019 and so it's good to finally have some sounds to get stuck into from their meeting of minds. The Ludo Pop Vinyl on the other hand is extremely cute and it’s hard to imagine anyone not finding it to be a very sweet figure.

The fur sculpting is awesome here and this particular figure had very nice paint applications too which is an area where Funko can be particularly weak. The results included the widescreen balladry of ‘As The World Falls Down’, the haunting ‘Underground’ and the high-camp cult classic ‘Magic Dance’, which was performed in the film by Bowie, surrounded by some of Jim Henson’s finest puppet creations. Bowie’s turn in the film came smack bang in the middle of a decade during which he made a concerted effort to reach a new, mainstream audience – and he duly accomplished that mission with his performance as Jareth The Goblin King. I’d always wanted to be involved in the music-writing aspect of a movie that would appeal to children of all ages, as well as everyone else,” he said, adding that Jim Henson gave him “a completely free hand” with the music.
