About this deal

And, yes, that’s the bathroom. The Wizard pretty much confirms it, even including a meta-joke about how his minifigure doesn’t have bendable legs.

From the front you can see the main entrance room of the castle, once the drawbridge and portcullis are added however is it not as visible. Bag 20 – Completing the keep’s first level and the drawbridge Joining up the two halves of the castle completes the build. The connection here is a bar-and-clip type, which is enough to keep things snug without making things too difficult to disassemble. I was particularly impressed with the techniques employed to get all these cunning angles done, and the entire building experience felt like a whole new level of LEGO model building had been achieved. There are just the 22 minifigures included in 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle, and with such a quantity there’s barely a complaint to be made. For a set this large, it takes a character count this high to populate it and, furthermore, the selection made available here offers variety, colour, charm and play to really help tell the story within the set – one that is reminiscent of stories past from the LEGO Castle theme. Beneath her bedroom is a banquet hall, with a large dining, and most importantly, printed shields on display. If these sigils and logos look familiar, you might recognise them from 375 Castle, which is a lovely nod to the heritage of LEGO Castle.

Did he die? Is he reincarnated? Did he possess some old peasant? Very disturbing the more you think about this sentence.

There are also plenty of instances of Nice Part Usage (NPU) to be found. For example, this small water feature/cistern uses a minifigure energy blast for the falling water. There’s just so much going on, and as you build the set, you’ll encounter all sorts of great little details hidden in every nook and cranny – like this gorgeous fountain and harpischord. The front of the castle is equipped with a working drawbridge. The bridge itself is fairly sturdy, with long lengths of LEGO chain attached to work the play feature.

A large part of the castle’s charm is its irregular design. Largely symmetrical castles do exist and Lego could have easily replicated this via a couple of large baseplates. But many castles were added to or altered over the years and the Lion Knights' Castle reflects this. The hulking set is built atop a variety of differently shaped tiles, resulting in a build that’s both believable and bursting with character.
