About this deal

The Bad Elf app will also summarize Trip Details and thus you can see how fast and high I traveled during that 11/3 tracking session. A little malt, a little hops, and lots of holiday trouble-making; this Elf is so bad, it’s way good. V. to make a quick video detailing how to pair the Bad Elf Flex Mini GNSS receiver with the Apglos Survey Wizard land surveying app. The left-hand screen above shows all the logged Trips currently on my test Bad Elf Pro, all but one of which has been copied over to the iPad (one-button-push easy to do).

However, the accuracy at best will be like 5m, while my Android phone, for instance, might get 3m accuracy. I know they didn't care about my experience because I was just some Shmoe who bought their loss-leader model, but a year later that experience is preventing me from even considering their high-end model.

So, if plugged into a decent USB car charger, with the supplied micro-USB lead (or a micro-USB 12v charger) it will provide power to the iPhone. Baseline Equipment Company is a full line dealer of Land Surveying Equipment and Industrial Safety Supplies. The backlight isn't visible in daylight, however its "momentary on" setting should prevent accidentally draining the battery with it.

Thanks Darren and Sean16v for your help - I think I'll be going for the Bad Elf iOS GPS dongle then. Non-personalized content and ads are influenced by things like the content you’re currently viewing and your location (ad serving is based on general location). Bad Elf's line of GNSS receivers empower GIS and survey professionals to collect high-accuracy field data using any phone, tablet, or laptop. I tested the dongle with Garmin, TomTom, NDrive and Memory-Map on an iPod Touch and all worked perfectly. The app also supports purchasing and loading Flex Tokens into the hardware for standalone use of higher-accuracy features and correction sources. We plan to add support for all non-iOS devices (PC, Mac, Android, etc) over Bluetooth SPP profile in the next 1-2 app/firmware updates. com to learn more about the Bad Elf GPS, GPS Pro/Pro+, and the GNSS Surveyor accessories, which add a high performance GPS receiver to the iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad via the 30-pin dock connector, Lighting connector, or Bluetooth. Seems to be simple to use and has a lot of features to assist in setting up local rtk as well as checklist workflow for everything.

What’s particularly neat is how easily you can access and manage your track data from the iThing app. The GPS Pro provides a battery life of up to 16 hours when connected to your iOS device via Bluetooth, and supports a GPS reporting rate of 10 times per second (configurable).Bad Elf Flex Extreme delivers accuracy all day, every day, with 1 cm horizontal accuracy RTK (permanent) via NTRIP. The above screen shows what the PC version of Memory-Map can do with the GPX version of the big Myrtle-to-Camden file. I think Dan has a great idea to attach the bad elf to a buoy on a short lead directly above the anchor, but is it waterproof (they claim to be only splashproof), and is the bluetooth signal strong enough to travel at least 150ft and penetrate into the interior of the vessel? The only problem is the IPad needs a cell signal to download maps unless you have previously downloaded any charts you may need.

I now believe that GPS-based anchor alarm is dependent on logic to reject certain wrong fixes while alarming immediately on good fixes showing you adrift. It won't maintain a fix for more than half a minute or so, and the accuracy will occasionally reach sub-1m for a second or two, but it doesn't seem to be logging any of the points I'm trying to record, and I wouldn't trust them even if it did since it regularly shows 0 of 0 satellites connected while reporting sub-10m accuracy. Their feedback and requirements have driven our team to build the most powerful GNSS receivers that are also affordable, accurate, and intuitive. Closest I've gotten is screenshotting the app when the accuracy is reasonably low, which obviously is not going to work for serious use.

Plus this Bluetooth Elf can do much more than simply feed position data to iPads, Touch iPods, and iPhones (up to five at once). The truly sad thing was that I was considering getting the Surveyor version of it to get greater accuracy until this experience helped me realized they won't stand behind their products. It did wake me up or would have woken me up every single night that I used it because of single fluke fixes 1/4 mile away from the actual position or more. Der Preis ist sicher etwas hoch, relativiert sich aber, da keine monatlichen Folgekosten wie bei anderen Lösungen anfallen. It gets a GPS lock very quickly, and I like the display which is just enough to show what's going on if you're using it as a standalone logger.
