About this deal

There was a lot of good stuff back then, including the precursor to the Frank Miller "dark" reboot, prefigured in much of this earlier material. We eventually get a confrontation between Batman and Nightwing, resolving all the unspoken tension that started when Grayson was let go. The most famous thing about my version of Jason Todd is that fans voted to kill him off, like Andy Kaufman getting voted off SNL by phone.

For fans of the comic books across the decades, this episode certainly highlighted the important relationships between Bruce and two important people in his life - Harvey and Dick. The final Starlin/Aparo episode, "White, Gold and Truth" is the crown jewel -- the entire collection is worth owning just for this issue. Starlin is adept at telling tightly plotted 22-page stories with an emotional arc, and Aparo, for me, was the definitive Batman artist of the eighties. These comics were published at the same time Batman was going at it alone in Tim Burton's first feature-film adaptation, but stand as a testament to what an important place in the Batman mythos -- and superhero pantheon in general -- the Boy Wonder occupies. We get a single issue introducing the new villain, The Mime, who would never appear again aside from an Arkham Asylum mini-series published sixteen years later.

A youth who is a little cocky, a bit brash, and kinda rude taking over the role of America's favorite teen sidekick without so much as a thank you and it ticked fans off. The Dark Knight sees Jason's potential to be a hero-as well as the rage and revenge that torment him. He starts off with a very hardboiled murder mystery and then ends with a tale of having Dick Grayson coming to terms with Jason taking his old spot. This leads to a story that continues Batman’s training of Jason and reveals that the new Robin’s father was killed by Two-Face.

When he flips the coin, Batman insists that Two-Face let it hit the ground as he wants to see which face lands up. And I have the benefit of several decades worth of hindsight and the knowledge that he will grow to be an awesome character! It would have been interesting to see what Collins had in mind for Jason going forward if there was a plan to mellow him out a bit, but once Starlin takes over he doubles down and leads us to his eventual fate.

It doesn't acknowledge the fact that after its first two issues, DC published Batman: Year One, Frank Miller's post-Crisis reboot of the Batman mythology. I thought they were good stories, but yes, they were hobbled by an inconsistent approach on the art. Post-crisis Batman stories from Detective Comics are collected in Batman: The Dark Knight Detective (DC, 2018 series). Although, in "Two-Face, Part I", when he walked out of the hospital room, his left leg wasn't affected in any way.Batman goes after Harvey and catches him, using a grappling hook to escape both the fall and the dynamite. No final recupera com o issue em que o Dick Grayson, agora Nightwing, confronta o Batman por este ter recrutado um novo Robin e com um Annual engraçado sobre o Penguin. When they announced the Under the Red Hood Deluxe I was kinda hoping they’d slide in a bit of Jason’s Robin era as some extra material but sadly no. A woman Bruce Wayne meets becomes his next victim, which sparks his drive to find and take down the man. Every volume in this brand new series is a hardback book that presents one of the most important superhero tales of recent years.

He has black hair, he's been living alone for a long time after his mother died of a drug overdose and his father was killed by Two Face, who he worked for. He’s frustrated that Batman adopted another partner so quickly and planted the seeds that Nightwing is a version of Batman who worked through his trauma and came out better on the other side. report information) Pencils Jim Aparo (signed as AJ) Inks Jim Aparo (signed as AJ) Colors Anthony Tollin Letters ? It’s hard to tell what Collin’s motive was when writing the character and what input the editor’s had. Second Chances at least offers new and old fans alike their own second chance -- to revisit the short, tragic career of a misunderstood character who once bore the name and insignia of one of the most legendary superheroes in comicdom. Most of Grayson’s character arc on this matter happened in the pages of New Teen Titans and was never really touched upon in the pages of Batman.
