He's to tiny to sing but he made a loud he-he-he noise, sitting up on his padded bottom and clapping his hands. The book opens on Floss's birthday where Sally and Steve tell her that they are going to Australia for six months because of Steve's job.

Making the difficult decision to stay at home, Floss moves in permanently with her dad and they muddle along happily together, surviving on chip butties and enjoying visits to the local funfair.

Later, Susan goes to stay in her house in France and says farewell to Floss at the beginning of summer. I feel as though Wilson books are a must in the lives of young children, a way of opening their eyes to the real world in the right way.
