During the next 12 months, EFRAG will focus on refining a second batch of draft ESRS, which will feature additional standards designed specifically for SMEs. That set will also include a range of sector-specific standards encompassing five industries covered by the Global Reporting Initiative (agriculture, coal mining, mining and both upstream and mid-to-downstream oil and gas), plus five high-impact sectors (energy production, road transport, motor vehicle production, textiles and food and beverages). Companies need to understand how this feature will impact their reporting and data gathering, even though the extent of data required from the value chain has reduced since the original drafts, and phase-in reliefs are available.

Numerical Sets

All companies, regardless of size, may opt out of disclosing the expected financial impacts related to risks from environmental issues for the first year of reporting. Companies can provide qualitative disclosure only on these financial impacts for a further two years.
