It might just save people some time and effort putting this info out where its easy to find and the kit works.

so anyone with the locking nuts from 2001 to 2005 get them off whilst you still can and replace them with the current new type available from Volvo .

They have also offered a free replacement for the key (and presumably the bolts) as long as I send back the damaged parts, but as I won't be installing them there doesn't seem much point in that. Our simple-to-use kit is capable of removing virtually all locknuts on the market to date, with no damage to the wheel due to the protective steel shroud. The tool used skill and accuracy rather than relying on strength to work effectively, making it an ideal solution for anybody looking to remove locknuts without the key. It isnt the power guns which make these bolts stick, it is that over the years the taper mates too perfectly with the wheel and you have to overcome this friction of the taper with the key nut . However It will only be of use for locking bolts which are still intact , in good condition with clean threads , not excessivly tightened and not with the cone siezed into the alloy wheel cone .

Actually, I'm that hacked off with not being able to remove my offside front wheel, do any of you know of any garage within 50miles of Darlington that uses Dynomec tools? It isnt just volvo which use these bolts , just about every premium European manufacturer does so presumably have the same problems .In these worst cases no amount of torque will free the bolt that is why the key breaks and sometimes the head of the locking bolt cracks , due to the huge torque applied and the bolts still will not undo . My nuts :animal-smiley-037: are old and been on and off many times - or rather the bolts holding the wheels on my car are old and have been on and off lots of times! prior to that I'd bought 4 new wheel bolts from Volvo and I put those in - who is going to nick alloys off a Volvo I ask you !
